France condemns the incident that resulted in the death of a UN staffer (May 16, 2024)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the incident that resulted in the death of an Indian member of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security staff while he was doing his job in the southern Gaza Strip. We offer our condolences to his loved ones, to India and to the entire UN system. His death follows that of the more than 180 UN staffers who have lost their lives in Gaza since the beginning of the crisis.

France reminds all the parties of their obligation to abide by international humanitarian law and to ensure the protection of humanitarian workers and UN personnel.
