On August 31, Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, unveiled a plan dubbed “Osez l’export” (“dare to export”).

The goal of this plan is to help businesses, especially small and medium-sized businesses, to operate in every field and geographical area and thereby promote French excellence. At the Ambassadors’ Conference on August 29, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna reaffirmed the Ministry’s staunch commitment to expanding the international reach of French businesses, a major component of France’s sovereignty in the economic and service sectors, giving them the opportunity to see the concrete results of our economic diplomacy.

With a budget of €125 million, this plan offers concrete tools to all French companies to help them succeed abroad. The 13 measures included in the plan fall into three categories: investing in people and regions through nationwide hiring and training programs and encouraging companies to export their products abroad; promoting French excellence in a maximum number of markets and ensuring that companies collectively benefit from French support; and investing in the key industries and growth areas of tomorrow while providing support for France’s reindustrialization.

There are nearly 150,000 French exporters today, compared with 125,000 in 2018. Since 2018 and the creation of Team France Export, the government has proven its capacity to assist exporters: the revenues of businesses that receive support from Team France Export grow twice as fast and the company continues to be an exporter over the long term. At the unveiling of “Osez l’export,” the minister delegate reiterated the goal of 200,000 French export firms by 2030.
