Summit between the EU and Western Balkans - Q&A from the press briefing (14 September 2021)

Q : With regard to the Balkans: Angela Merkel is taking part in a Balkan summit today. Is there any coordination between her approach and the dynamic approach of President Macron?

R : The next summit between the EU and the Western Balkans will be held on October 6. We are coordinating closely with our German partners on the issue of the Western Balkans, particularly through a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, for which we have hosted two joint summits – one held in Paris on July 10, 2020. We launched a joint initiative to combat small arms and light weapons. We support the idea of stepping up the EU’s commitment in the region on the rule of law, healthcare, the economy and security.
