Israel – Release of a French hostage in Gaza (30 November 2023)

We were hugely relieved to learn that our young compatriot Mia has been released. We are delighted that she was able to regain her freedom after the appalling captivity she suffered for 54 days, during which, among other things, she was despicably shown off in a video broadcast by Hamas. She is now safe in Israel. We share the joy of her loved ones and all those who worked actively to secure her freedom. The French President, Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs had met Mia’s family and close friends.

In this regard, France pays tribute to the mediation efforts of Egypt, the ICRC and Qatar.

We are working tirelessly to secure the release of those French people still being held hostage in the Gaza Strip. This is an absolute priority for France. Four of our compatriots are still missing at present. They can count on France.
