Q: Does the Algerian draft resolution contain the elements that are needed to win French acceptance at the Security Council?

A: Given the severity of the situation in Gaza, we supported the Algerian request for an emergency Security Council meeting. We hope that the Security Council will adopt a resolution to respond to the humanitarian emergency, to make progress toward a ceasefire, and to give the UN a clear mandate in Gaza. We call for the release of the hostages.
