Libya - Q&A (October 27, 2022)

Q: The situation has not improved since the December 2021 Declaration of the Paris International Conference for Libya. Do you believe that France and its allies should take up this issue again and take measures against the individuals who are impeding what remains of the political process?

A: France, together with the UN and our international and regional partners, is fully committed to a stable, safe and sovereign Libya. Today, Libya needs a unified government that is able to govern and hold presidential and parliamentary elections throughout the country. We support the UN Secretary-General’s new Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in his efforts to facilitate a political dialogue in Libya, which must be led and owned by the Libyans themselves in a way that is inclusive.
