Mauritania – Presidential election (5 July 2024)

France congratulates Mr Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani on his re-election as President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

France reaffirms its desire to strengthen its ties of friendship with Mauritania, and stands fully mobilized to continue working with President Ghazouani on all our common priorities. In this regard, it pays tribute to the resolute action of Mauritania, acting Chair of the African Union, to support the African continent’s stability and development.
