France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Russian missile strike against a cargo ship carrying Ukrainian grain to Egypt on September 11. After carrying out repeated strikes against Ukrainian port facilities involved in grain exports, Russia continues to jeopardize the food security of millions of people.

France reiterates that Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has significantly aggravated global food insecurity and malnutrition. This blackmail against food security has affected the world’s most vulnerable populations for more than two and a half years now.

The conference hosted by Ukraine on September 4 dedicated to the food security point of its Peace Formula highlighted, in this regard, the consequences of the Russian aggression on food security.

France reaffirms its unwavering commitment to global food security. Since 2022, we have provided funding to the World Food Programme in connection with the Grain From Ukraine program, in order to deliver wheat and Ukrainian agricultural products to more than 6.62 million people in Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and Palestine.
