What is France’s reaction to the fact that the United States is considering the possibility of supplying cluster munitions to Ukraine?

As a state party to the Convention on Cluster Munitions, France is committed to neither producing nor using cluster munitions and to discourage their use. France is abiding by its commitments.

Neither the United States nor Ukraine have signed the Convention on Cluster Munitions and are therefore not bound by its provisions.
We understand how the United States reached this decision in its wish to help Ukraine pursue its legitimate defense against Russia’s illegal aggression.
