Ukraine – Russian missile strikes on the city of Sumy (14 April 2025)
France utterly condemns the missile strikes carried out by Russia yesterday on the city of Sumy, Ukraine, which are thought to have killed at least 34 people, including two children, and injured over 100 others. On 4 April, a strike on a residential district in Kryvyi Rih killed nearly 20 people. These attacks, and the many strikes on Ukrainian territory every day that also kill many civilians, are unacceptable and constitute war crimes. While Ukraine has accepted the principle of an unconditional ceasefire for over a month now, demonstrating its strong commitment to peace, Russia has clearly opted to continue its war of aggression with no regard for the most fundamental principles of international law or any human life.
In close coordination with its partners, France will continue working to get strong measures adopted for imposing a ceasefire on Russia.
