Yemen – United Nations – Successful operation to offload oil from FSO Safer (12 August 2023)

France welcomes the successful operation to offload oil from the FSO Safer, which threatens to break up off the coast of Yemen. France, which supported and helped finance the operation to the tune of €3.3 million, pays tribute to the efforts of the United Nations and the mobilization of many countries to carry through this complex salvage plan, which was completed on 11 August and has averted an environmental, humanitarian and economic disaster in the Red Sea.

France calls for active international efforts to continue until the end of the operations.

It reiterates its support for the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen in his effort to achieve a political resolution to the conflict, the only way to improve the lives of Yemenis in the long term and contribute to regional security.
