EU – African Union – Jean-Yves Le Drian participating in EU-AU ministerial meeting (Kigali, Oct. 26)
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian is taking part in the second ministerial meeting between the African Union and the EU today in Kigali, Rwanda.
The minister will reaffirm France’s commitment to this partnership between Europe and Africa. With its member states, the EU is the African continent’s leading partner in trade, investment, official development assistance, student mobility, and support for African security initiatives. European and African nations have common values and shared interests in whose service they can influence global governance.
Mr. Le Drian will present France’s ambitions for this partnership ahead of the French presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2022, particularly with regard to the post-Covid economic recovery, challenges connected with movement between the two continents, digital issues and security issues.
